Botanical Name: Monstera deliciosaNative Region/Environment: Southern Mexico to Panama Sun/Light: Morning direct sun otherwise bright, indirect light is best. Temperature: Indoor houseplant temperature range 65-85 degrees is best. Outdoors in USDA Zones 11-12. Water: Best to moisten the entire soil and let it dry to the touch than frequently water small amounts. Frequent mists are better than frequent watering. Avoid standing water. Soil: Organically rich and porous. Growth Pattern: Large perennial evergreen vine in warm climates. Each vine is compact with close leaf nodes and long, strong aerial roots to attach and support its weight for climbing. Deep fenestrations, evolutionary adaptation of oval leaf holes and deep side splits, which permit diffuse lighting to reach even the lower leaves and not just the growing crown. Grows 1'-2' per year. Mature Size: Mature plants can have 60'-80' long vines that are 3" in diameter. Large leaves, maturing at 2 1/2' wide and 3' long each, create a very bushy, dense tropical feel. Attributes: Versatile, in a hanging basket or in a pot with a growing pole, the heart shaped leaves are a solid, uniform green that is trainable. Able to grow very densely considering the large leaf size. Pot: 3.5" or 4" |
